Never thought I'd say this-but needs more gay sex.

If you're using Stamper's songs & cartoons as an inspiration for your cartoon, then you should make your content reflect his style of over-the-top crazy homoerotic antics as much as possible.

This toon though is just too boring and slow. Not only is it "tame" by Stamper standards, it doesn't even really go anywhere regardless. It's just slow and boring.

Good graphics, and a decent idea, just not played out that well.

Frax responds:

I Guess.

Slick and Violent!

Excellent work, in true Madness style! The violence is pleasingly over-the-top, and the graphics are quick and slick. Perhaps even BETTER graphics than the Madness series! The music also fits really well with the action. All of those things are really fitting in Madness style. But even as its own standalone work, this is really good stuff.

The only thing I can critique is that the story & its portrayal feel a bit off. Let me explain:

I guess the first thing that bothred me is, the story sort of switches gears right away. The viewer gets set up to watch a story about alien autopsy, then suddenly the whole thing shifts into some "experiment-on-hapless-scientist" story. Both are good ideas by themselves, but they don't seem to jive together, or at least not how they're spliced together.

The latter story is sort of confusing too, because it's not really clear what motive the "gov't guys" have for operating on scientists, or why they chose this scientist in particular. Did they choose him as punishment for operating on aliens, or did they just grab the first random schlep they could find in their corporation? And why would they be giving this guy superhuman powers, and SHOWING him videos of him murdering their cohorts, when they must have known full well that that's what he would start doing? Maybe they underestimated his powers so soon? They certainly didn't seem to have a lot of restraints on him, at any rate.

I guess some of these questions could be answered in part 2, but it does detract a bit from enjoying the movie. Plus, there's the undeniable dissatisfaction of watching a cliffhanger. :)

Some of the "comedy gag" bits you added felt sort of out-of-place too - things like hitting the super-complex operating machine in the beginning to turn it on, and the inclusion of the "PB&J banana." These didn't feel like they fit the tone of the "ultraviolence" nature of the Madness series. Yeah, I know Krinkels added Tricky to his work to mix it up, but even that character worked to COMPLEMENT the violence, and added a "criminally-insane" aspect to the story. Some of that stuff I mentioned felt out of place.

I know I just wrote a lot of negative stuff about your work, but that doesn't mean I didn't really enjoy it. I only wrote so much because it was tough to explain the little things that bugged me a bit. Good work - really - and I hope to see part 2!

Alienslushie responds:

Thanks for the constructives
I will try to use everything you've mentioned to improve on part 2... I will also try to sort of re-explain some of the plots outlines that were a bit hazy.

thanks for the review

Decent.

Not bad; you raise some good points, the voices are good, and the animation is okay. I share your frustrations with the Iphone!

DWT-Productions responds:

thanks, though some words of improvements wouldve helped since since we must've done somthing wrong in ur eyes since we only got a "5"
thanks anyway

Just okay.

It's more odd and annoying than anything else. The animation is decent but not spectacular, and it fails to be really disturbing or funny, whatever it was trying to do.

AlmightyHans responds:

who says it was trying to do anything? :]

Steel condom? Ouch.

It's just an average flash. It's not funny, or well-animated, or even that inventive an idea. The only thing that struck me is how painful a riveted steel condom would have to be. Ouch.

D-to-da-P responds:

you really dont htink this was an inentive idea? this has beenmade already. well if it has been im sorry i didnt know. so what is inventive idea to you?

He needs a bunny honey.

A strange take on the Easter bunny, but it's a decent job. The animation's okay, but the movie's theme was unclear until the ending line. This movie just needed a clearer purpose.

Jszostak responds:

yeah, its pretty random and makes little sense... guess i just wanted to make something for easter

Good content, but mixed personal enjoyment.

Very interesting! The graphics are rather unique - they a strange quasi-3D feel to them. To that end, thanks for the background info on the movie's construction. But perhaps it's ultimately a bit TOO dark for my tastes. Literally - it's not a matter of monitor adjustments, simply too much is left shaded out. Style-wise, it's very slick, full of the sort of exaggerated action fighting style that's become quite popular.
.
The things I disliked about the movie are of a more personal taste nature. I didn't really like your version of a Link character; Link doesn't look right in a "white suit," as I saw it. Also, it doesn't seem right that they can fly. That just gives it a more DBZ-esque feel. As a whole though, it's a pretty solid effort. Nice work.

LeviFolds responds:

master quest man - white suit - it works, trust me

All-around excellence.

This is an perfect example of a well-rounded flash movie. It does not excel specifically in any area of flash work, but rather it shows excellent competency in every aspect.
.
First: the graphics. While the animation isn't eye-popping, the artwork is very clean and vivid. The caricatures are exceptional, and are probably the best element of this flash. Plus, the authors have VERY accurately reproduced Gary's infamous webcam dance.
.
Secondly, the sounds. The imitation of the judges isn't perfect, but it definetly captures the judges' intonations, accents, and speaking styles. The voices are also very clear and easy to understand.
.
Third, the style. The movie's concept is very trendy and current, managing to successfully combine and parody two major pop-culture hits. When a movie idea works this well, you wonder why it hasn't been thought of earlier.
.
Fourth, the interactivity. The movie interface is very clean, has the prerequisite preloader, and includes a much-appreciated progress bar; something missing from many longer flash movies. I'm also impressed by the moderately low file size - an indication of good compression skills and frugal use of media.
.
Finally, the all important humor. It wasn't laugh-out-loud funny, but I really found it amusing, mostly for the reasons listed above. The pacing was good; there wasn't any real dead spots in the movie. It set up its premise quickly, delivered the material, and then wrapped up without dragging on. Perhaps the fight between Paula and Simon felt a bit forced, but that's about it.
.
Is it the greatest flash ever? No, not really. But by covering all the bases, this makes for one solid movie. Flash authors take note - this is the way to make good movies.

Dustball responds:

Thank you for the comprehensive review! I'm glad you appreciate the many aspects of this movie. I would like to point out that I alone created this, voices and all, with the exception of the programming of the navigation bar, we can thank gel for that!

Artistically entertaining.

A surreal but entertaining piece of animation. While the art style is kinda sloppy, it's also rather unique. I was particularly intruiged by the integration of video with flash animation; I don't think I've seen it done quite like that before. The story doesn't make much sense; but I was hoping more story about why the alien fellow was looking for replacement arms for the robot. Nice job overall!

ZekeySpaceyLizard responds:

Thank yew!

Compelling, thematic movie.

This is a good movie, because it seems to have what many movies lack: an underlying THEME. It's a simple and universal theme, but no less poignant. As I see it, the story's about the average young man, probably in his mid-twenties, who struggles to cope with the tedium of adulthood, with its stifling responsibilties to work and "loved" ones. In his frustration, he escapes to the comforting, nostalgic memory of his passing, carefree childhood. It's a temporary escape however, and it's easily broken. But he'll do anything to stay there, even to the point of self-destruction.
.
The physical violence in this movie seemed a bit harsh and out of place, but I was pleasantly suprised by the optimistic ending. It seems to portray the girl (and the love interests she symbolizes) not as simply posessive and domineering, but as someone who feels genuine concern for her partner, and is willing to make personal sacrifices for their well being. She opens her heart to him, and together they move forward to the future. If that isn't the very definition of love, I don't know what is.
.
A very enjoyable movie, with a thought-provoking theme and some good animation to boot. Nicely done!

Butterflysmasher responds:

the voilence was to make the conflict seem more physical and out there i guess. plus i had to have him try and get back to his dream world somehow.
thanks for the review and the further analysis on the plot.

If I've unfairly judged your movie, please tell me. I make every effort to be objective and thoughtful.
